Victron Energy’s Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A (360W) Isolated DC-DC Charger is Bluetooth Smart enabled, which allows users to monitor the system using smartphone, tablet or any Bluetooth enabled device. This smart feature also allows its user to change the settings and to update the charger when there is a new software available.

The Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A (360W) Isolated DC-DC Charger is also fully programmable and comes with Smart alternator compatibility, which delivers a adjustable output voltage and can be shut down when they’re not needed. It also comes with an engine running detection mechanism that prevents the system from discharging the starter battery when the alternator does not supply power. This Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC charger will separate the starter battery from the service battery when the engine is turned off.

As with the other Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Chargers, the Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A (360W) Isolated DC-DC Charger offers adaptive 3-stage charge algorithm. The first stage is Bulk is where the controller delivers maximum charge current to quickly recharge the batteries.

The second stage, Absorption, is where the controller switches constant voltage mode when the battery voltage reaches the absorption voltage setting. It is vital for lead acid batteries to keep the absorption time short during shallow discharges in order to prevent the battery from overcharging. On the other hand, lithium batteries have fixed, default absorption time of 2 hours. The unit allows users to choose between fixed and adaptive mode.

The third stage is Float, which is where the float voltage is applied to the battery in order to maintain its fully charged state. In cases such as high load, the battery voltage will drop substantially bellow the fully charged level, the controller will then trigger a new charge cycle during at least 60 seconds or 1 minute.

Furthermore, Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Chargers have flexible charge algorithm. By using the VictronConnect app, users can configure the programmable charge algorithm and the 8 pre-programmed battery settings quickly and easily.

The Orion-Tr Smart 24/12-30A (360W) Isolated DC-DC Charger can be enabled or disabled using a remote on/off connector or using the VictronConnect app. Conventional use cases include a user operated hard wired switch and automatic control by for example a Battery Management System.

All Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Chargers comes with a variety of electronic protection. This include overload, short circuit and connector over-temperature protection. These Isolated DC-DC chargers also have over-temperature protection and power derating once the unit’s temperature is high.

Orion-Tr Smart Isolated DC-DC Chargers allows parallel connection of unlimited number of units to increase the output current. It is easy to install and does not require any special tools during its installation. Furthermore, it comes with IP43 protection when it is installed with the screw terminals positioned downwards.
