Victron Energy’s MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX Inverter/Charge combines the capabilities of the MultiPlus-II inverter/charger with the GX 2×16 character display. This device is a multifunctional inverter and charger that incorporates all the MultiPlus features, in addition to the external current sensor option which extends the functions of PowerControl and PowerAssist to 50A resp. 100A. This is ideally suited for professional marine, yatching, vehicle and land based off-grid applications. Apart from a built-in anti-islanding functionality and several possible system configurations, the MultiPluss-II models also have a long list of country approvals for ESS application.
The MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX Inverter/Charger with device networking built-in, the MultiPlus-II GX communicates with a solar charger, batteries, and other devices to control a grid-connected, off-grid, or remote power installation. Capable of parallel operation for increased power output, or battery charge-rates, the MultiPlus-II GX can also be configured for three-phase supply. A host of advanced features – such as uninterrupted power supply, setting load limits, and supplementing limited grid-power availability with battery power – can all be controlled straight from your phone or smart device. Remote monitoring is also possible.
The MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX inverter/charger is able to boost the capacity of a generator or grid using PowerControl and PowerAssist. Here, it will allow maximum grid or generator current to be configured. This MultiPlus-II model prevents the grid or generator from being overloaded using the PowerControl function, where it will take account of other AC loads and use whatever is extra for charging the battery.
With its PowerAssist, the principle of PowerControl is taken into new heights. This MultiPlus-II inverter/charger unit will compensate the insufficient power from the generator, grid or shore power supply using the power from the battery, in cases where peak power is frequently required only a limited period.
The MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX can also provide AC power using solar energy in the event of grid failure. The MultiPlus-II can be used in off grid as well as grid connected PV and other alternative energy systems. It is compatible with both solar charger controllers and grid-tie inverters
MultiPlus-II GX models units provides 2 AC outputs, where the main output has no break functionality. The MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the connected loads in the event of a grid failure or when shore/generator power is disconnected. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption. The second output is live only when AC is available on the input of the MultiPlus-II GX. Loads that should not discharge the battery, like a water heater for example, can be connected to this output.
Thanks to its parallel and three-phase operation, users of MultiPlus-II GX models have virtually unlimited power. With this inverter/charger, up to 6 Multis can operate in parallel to achieve higher power output. Six 48/5000/70 units, for example, will provide 25 kW / 30 kVA output power with 420 Amps charging capacity. In addition to parallel connection, three units of the same model can be configured for three phase output. But that’s not all: up to 6 sets of three units can be parallel connected for a 75 kW / 90 kVA inverter and more than 1200 Amps charging capacity.
The MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 230V GX inverter/charger also features on-site monitoring, control and configuring. Settings can be changed in a matter of minutes with VEConfigure software (computer or laptop and MK3-USB interface needed).Several monitoring and control options are available: Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart dongle), Battery Monitor, Digital Multi Control Panel.
Its remote configuring and monitoring also provides additional convenience to its users. All you need to do is to install a Color Control GX or other GX product to connect to the internet. You can then store and display operational data on the VRM (Victron Remote Management) website, free of charge. Users can also access the system remotely and change the settings of the MultiPlus-II GX device when the device is connected to the internet.
