Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner

Product Description

The Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner is a heavy-duty relay battery monitoring device that is controlled by a microprocessor. It is designed to automatically connect batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a pre-set voltage (indicating that the battery is being charged), and disconnects when the voltage decreases below float level (indicating that one or more batteries are being discharged). Thus, the Cyrix-ct Intelligent Battery Combiners are exceptional replacement for diode isolators. Their main feature is that there is practically no voltage loss so that the output voltage of alternators or battery chargers does not need to be increased.

The Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner also offers intelligent battery monitoring which helps prevent unwanted switching. Some battery combiners (also called voltage-controlled relay, or split charge relay) will disconnect a battery in case of a short but high amperage load. A battery combiner also may fail to connect a large but discharged battery bank because the DC voltage immediately drops below the disengage value once the batteries are connected.

Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner’s software does more than simply connect and disconnect based on battery voltage and with a fixed time delay. The Cyrix-ct 12/24 looks at the general trend (voltage increasing or decreasing) and reverses a previous action only if the trend has reversed during a certain period. The time delay depends on the voltage deviation from the trend.

With the Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner, the accessory battery and possibility a bow thruster and other batteries are each connected to the starter battery, as opposed to the typical setup where the alternator is directly connected to the started battery. This allows the Cyrix to engage when the started battery has reached the connect voltage to pave way for the parallel charging of the other batteries.

The Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400AIntelligent Battery Combiner is able to sense the voltage of all connected batteries and is designed to engage when the accessory battery is being charged by the starter battery. It has a dual power supply, which will also close in the event when the voltage on one battery drops too low to operate the device. Furthermore, when one battery has been disconnected or in order to prevent unexpected operation during installation, the Cyrix-ct 24/48V intelligent battery combiner will not close if the voltage on one of the batteries connection is lower than 2V (12V battery) or 4V (24V battery).

The Victron Cyrix-i 24/48V-400A Intelligent Battery Combiner can either be controlled with a push of a button or a switch to connect batteries in parallel manually. This is especially useful in the event of an emergency when the started battery is either damaged or discharged.
