Product Description
The ARGOFET 200-3 Three batteries 200A is a battery isolator specially manufactured to allow one alternator to simultaneously charge multiple batteries without having to connect the batteries together. With Argo FET Isolators, discharging the accessory battery will not end in discharging the starter batter.
Unlike diode battery isolators, Field Effect Transistor or FET isolators are known to have nearly no voltage drop. In the event of low current, its voltage drop is less than 0.02V and averages to 0.1V at higher currents.
A great advantage of using the ARGOFET 200-3 Three batteries 200A is that it eliminates the need to increase the output voltage of the alternator. Nevertheless, it is vital to keep the cable lengths short and off sufficient cross section.
Some alternators need DC voltage on the B+ output to start charging. Obviously, DC will be present when the alternator is directly connected to a battery. Inserting a Diode or FET splitter will however prevent any return voltage/current from the batteries to the B+, and the alternator will not start. The new ‘AC’ diode isolators feature a special current limited energize input that will power the B+ when the engine run/stop switch is closed.
