Argo Diode 80-2SC 2 batteries 80A

Product Description

The Argo Diode 80-2SC 2 batteries 80A is a diode battery isolator specifically designed to allow simultaneous charging of two batteries from one alternator, without the need to connect the batteries together. With Argo Diode Isolators, discharging the accessory battery will not end in discharging the starter batter.

Like other models in the Argo Battery Isolators line, the Argo Diode 80-2SC 2 batteries 80A features a low voltage drop. At low current, the voltage drop is around 0.3V and the rated output is approximately 0.45V. This is because the Argo Battery Isolators utilize Schottky diodes, which are semiconductor diodes that has less voltage drop compared to normal diodes because the junction is in between N type semiconductor to Metal plate.

The Argo Diode 80-2SC 2 batteries 80A is equipped with a compensation diode, which can slightly increase the output voltage of the alternator, thus, compensating for the voltage drop over the diodes in the isolator.

Some alternators need DC voltage on the B+ output to start charging. Obviously, DC will be present when the alternator is directly connected to a battery. Inserting a Diode or FET splitter will however prevent any return voltage/current from the batteries to the B+, and the alternator will not start. The new ‘AC’ diode isolators feature a special current limited energize input that will power the B+ when the engine run/stop switch is closed.
